      <image:title>About Us - Alpine Training Centre SCIO</image:title>
<image:caption>Building kind, confident and resilient young people is the goal; the unique sport of ski racing is the transport system that takes them there. When Sean and Lara Langmuir started organising ski camps more than a decade ago, it was largely to create a race-training environment for family and friends. With their own three kids excluded from the Scottish and Alpine ski camps that were being organised – because they were under 12 or hadn’t reached a specific standard – Sean and Lara saw a gap in the development opportunities open to aspiring young ski racers. So, in 2010, the Alpine Training Centre (ATC) was born. Sean was perfectly positioned to take this step. He was coaching the British Children’s Team at the time and had years of experience running ski camps overseas, in Wanaka, New Zealand and in Canada. The guiding principle for those first ATC camps was inclusivity – and ATC’s ongoing aim is to give motivated young ski racers the chance to pursue their passion for skiing within a supportive community, one based on core values such as trust, hard work, responsibility and a sense of fun. ATC is now one of the most successful ski-racing organisations in the UK, and the fact that the Scottish and British Ski Teams are filled with ATC alumni speaks for itself. Indeed, more than half of today’s selected Scottish Team athletes have trained with ATC – an enviable track record. In 2021, ATC became a registered children’s charity, with one key objective being the opportunity to access funding and resources. Not only will this additional investment improve the breadth of training ATC offers, but it will also provide more kids with access to the sport, as well as enabling the team to build on the support it provides to ski racers and ski clubs.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About Us - Objectives</image:title>
<image:caption>ATC aims to broaden and advance participation in ski racing by helping to make training and racing more accessible and affordable. ATC encourages and nurtures the passion for competitive ski racing and love for the outdoors by providing accessibility to ski race training in environments that promote self learning and that encourage hard work. Our camps build confidence, teamwork, leadership and friendships. Our goal is to inspire and empower young adults to be the best they can be in sport and in life.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About Us - Why we do it</image:title>
<image:caption>ATC provides the best training and racing camps available, and supports a ski racing pathway that goes from grassroots to the national team. To help kids achieve their goals. To make memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. To motivate kids to work hard for what they want and to inspire them to believe that they can be next. How we do it We provide ski race camps year round for kids who are passionate about ski racing and want to get better. We support kids with bursaries to attend ski camps. By transitioning to a registered charity all ATC profits go straight back in to increasing value and quality for all camp racers.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About Us - What we do</image:title>
<image:caption>ATC provides quality ski training and racing camps in the UK, Scotland and abroad. By working together and supporting other Scottish ski clubs we build new friendships and a bigger and better ski racing community. Since becoming a charity ATC has begun to fundraise for several bursaries. Bursaries are independently funded and specifically targeted at providing support to kids in need.</image:caption>

This bursary will support young ski racers who have a demonstrated passion and skill for ski racing. It will provide race training and coaching through the winter months. More specifically, like AJ himself, this bursary will aim to promote values such as curiosity, generosity and caring for your fellow team mates. <image:title>Bursaries - 2022 Season Report</image:title>
<image:caption>This year we organised a two week pre-season training camp for some of those who were awarded a bursary. Others had cash awards to use for other training camps and equipment. The ATC charity camp took place in Hintertux with 20 of these talented young athletes. The training was provided by the best coaches and support staff in the business. Big thanks to coaches Andy Freshwater, Eilidh McLoed, Calum Shepherd, Sula Munro and Jessica Presslie for your care, motivation and fantastic training. This camp provided an essential foundation to kick off the 2022/23 winter season, and our young investments have been racing fast this year. Many have made the jump from club racers to being selected for their respective Home Nations teams (Scotland, England). A big shout out to Angus, Tia and Jasper who were all selected to represent Team GB in international races this season.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Patrons/ Sponsors - ATC Patrons and Sponsors</image:title>
<image:caption>We are looking for committed Patrons and Sponsors to join the ATC charity so that we can continue to make a genuine difference to young kids’ lives through ski racing. Patrons directly support the ATC bursary programme. They are passionate people who understand the amazing benefits that a life in skiing can bring. There are three levels of patron: Gold (£8000), Silver (£4000) and Bronze (£2000). Ideally we are seeking a minimum of a 3-year commitment from patrons. Patron FAQs Q: Can my company become an ATC patron? A: Yes patrons can be people or companies. Q: Where does the money go? A: The money you donate as a patron will go directly towards helping kids via an ATC bursary. The funds can be directed into a bursary which already exists, or if you are a Gold Patron you can start and design a new bursary, deciding such factors as the criteria on which it would be awarded, the duration, the number of recipients, etc. (in line with ATC values and charitable aims) Q: How does the charity cover it’s core costs? A: When a donation is made to the charity and it is eligible for Gift Aid, the charity retains the Gift Aid to cover core costs such as administration, insurance, and equipment for the camps. This means that if you donate £8000, all of that money would go to the bursary programme and the Gift Aid would go to covering the charity overheads. If donations are not eligible for Gift Aid, the Charity retains 20% of the donation to cover our core costs If you would like to contribute to the ATC Charity in any way, do get in touch with Sean on +44(0)7940 017548 or email seanlangmuir@me.com</image:caption>

      <image:title>Patrons/ Sponsors - What we do</image:title>
<image:caption>ATC organises not-for-profit racing camps, fully managed and coached by us, and open to kids aged 10 to 16. Young racers on ATC camps work hard, but our coaches are also trained to nurture values such as friendship, positivity, teamwork and being a good sport. Training and competing in a sport that involves risk and takes place in extreme environments creates resilience, character and a quiet confidence in kids. The ATC Charity and our racing camps are for kids who are passionate about ski racing. For kids willing to put in the effort, ATC camps are places where young people make lifelong friendships, learn to overcome challenges, and make a difference to the lives of those around them. The ATC Charity also supports ski clubs who don’t have the resources to run their own camps, and offers ad hoc assistance to ski organisations around the country.</image:caption>

Taking on coaching positions for ATC, SSC and LSR, Calum has gained a great deal of experience over the past few years, all whilst undertaking an engineering degree at Heriot-Watt university! As a fantastic skier and ex-racer he is a great role model for our talented kids coming through the ATC programme. “I have always loved the atmosphere on camps and would love for young ski racers to be able to enjoy the same incredible experiences I had around the world through my time racing.”</image:caption>

      <image:title>SSC Bursary - Charlie Guest</image:title>
<image:caption>Charlie Guest is the latest in a long line of Scottish Ski Club alumni who have made it to the top in World Cup and represented Team GB at the Olympic Games. Charlie says - “I think this is a fantastic way to support young Scottish Ski Club racers. At under 16 level, training and equipment suddenly gets very expensive. I am so grateful for the support on my journey up the ranking to British Team level.” Sean Langmuir says - “Charlie told us that she may not have made it to the top of the world of ski racing without a bursary she received when she was 14 years old. Realising that there was nothing like this available to young racers we thought that we should try and support the next generation.” Click here to donate to the SSC bursary on the Just Giving website.</image:caption>
