When Sean and Lara Langmuir started organising ski camps more than a decade ago, it was largely to create a race-training environment for family and friends. With their own three kids excluded from the Scottish and Alpine ski camps that were being organised – because they were under 12 or hadn’t reached a specific standard – Sean and Lara saw a gap in the development opportunities open to aspiring young ski racers. So, in 2010, the Alpine Training Centre (ATC) was born. Sean was perfectly positioned to take this step. He was coaching the British Children’s Team at the time and had years of experience running ski camps overseas, in Wanaka, New Zealand and in Canada. The guiding principle for those first ATC camps was inclusivity – and ATC’s ongoing aim is to give motivated young ski racers the chance to pursue their passion for skiing within a supportive community, one based on core values such as trust, hard work, responsibility and a sense of fun.
