Alistair Jeynes Ellis

Alistair (AJ) passed away too soon, with his whole life still in front of him. The AJ Bursary will continue to celebrate AJ's passion for ski racing. The AJ Bursary will help make training and racing more accessible and affordable to other young racers who both share his love of the sport and some of his character traits.

This bursary will support young ski racers who have a demonstrated passion and skill for ski racing. It will provide race training and coaching through the winter months. More specifically, like AJ himself, this bursary will aim to promote values such as curiosity, generosity and caring for your fellow team mates. The bursary will be managed and run as part of the Alpine Training Centre's new charity which shares these same values.

Process

  • On the application form you will be asked to provide some background information and to describe why you are deserving of this bursary.

  • All bursary camps are provided by, and delivered by the ATC charity on a not for profit basis.

  • Applications should state the training camps the applicant would like to attend. Note that this is a training bursary and is intended to support training camps not races.

  • Applications for more than one week in a single year will be considered.

  • Any award of bursaries for subsequent years will depend upon the athlete having demonstrated good attitude and performance, as well as the availability of funds.

  • Bursary awards will be determined by a selection panel comprising of: a race coach, an ATC charity trustee and AJ’s parents.

  • In the event that a selector has a conflict of interest, they will be required to declare this and will not take any part in the consideration of the applicant concerned. In the event of a conflict an alternate selector may be appointed.

  • The decisions of the selection panel will be announced but the reasons behind the selection of successful candidates will remain confidential.

  • The decisions of the selection panel will be final and are not open to challenge.
