2022 Season Report

This year we organised a two week pre-season training camp for some of those who were awarded a bursary. Others had cash awards to use for other training camps and equipment. The ATC charity camp took place in Hintertux with 20 of these talented young athletes. The training was provided by the best coaches and support staff in the business. Big thanks to coaches Andy Freshwater, Eilidh McLoed, Calum Shepherd, Sula Munro and Jessica Presslie for your care, motivation and fantastic training. This camp provided an essential foundation to kick off the 2022/23 winter season, and our young investments have been racing fast this year. Many have made the jump from club racers to being selected for their respective Home Nations teams (Scotland, England). A big shout out to Angus, Tia and Jasper who were all selected to represent Team GB in international races this season.

About the Bursaries

The Alpine Training Centre SCIO (formally known as ATC) is a registered Charity, specifically set up to support young ski racers. Together with our partners and sponsors ATC provides a limited number of Alpine Camps and several training bursaries each year to attend the camps. As well as our own ATC Bursary we have bursaries in partnership with the Scottish Ski Club, Winter Sports Foundation and the AJ Appeal. ATC is committed to broadening and advancing participation in Alpine ski racing by helping to make training and racing accessible and affordable to all young skiers.

  • Bursaries are specifically for young athletes to attend a two-week pre-season training camp in Austria.

  • This year we are excited to be offering ten athletes with fully residential race training camps in the Alps.

These bursaries are aimed at helping more kids to get access to ski racing. The Bursaries are all about encouraging and nurturing the passion for competitive skiing and the love for the outdoors. We promote values that help to promote confidence, resilience, leadership, hard work, friendship, teamwork and best of all, fun.

One of our aims is to support ski clubs in Scotland by providing club racers and their coaches with quality racing camps abroad. If you think your club would be interested in collaborating with ATC to offer great camps to more kids then please ask them to get in touch with us.

How to apply

All Bursaries work in partnership with the ATC Charity. If you are a committed young ski racer and in need of financial support to attend an ATC race camp in October then you may be eligible for a Bursary to attend a two-week residential training camp.

AJ’s Ski Bursary

  • The AJ Bursary is open to all ski racers aged 10-15

Established in memory of Alistair (AJ), a young racer and much loved ATC ski camp regular, the bursary aims to support promising youngsters, but also to encourage the development of values such as curiosity, generosity and caring for your fellow teammates, all qualities AJ was known for.

The annual AJ Bursary is managed by and in partnership with ATC, which shares these same values.

ATC Bursary

  • The ATC Bursary is open to all ski racers aged 10-15

ATC has been supporting young ski racers for over a decade by providing racing camps. The ATC pathway from Club to National Team has helped hundreds of young talented athletes realise their potential, and many have gone on to be selected to the Scottish, English and British ski teams. By transitioning to a charity and teaming up with the Winter Sports Foundation and the Fuchs Trust, ATC is continuing its commitment to support young athletes with the ATC Bursary.

Scottish Ski Club Bursary

  • Available to Scottish Ski Club members only.

The Scottish Ski Club (SSC) bursary aims to support SSC club racers in the children's age groups (10-15) who cannot afford to attend training camps or need a financial boost to help them with their training. This includes those who may want to attend a race camp for the first time.

Scottish Ski Club trainees have historically done very well, nationally and internationally with many being selected to the national team and some going on to represent Team GB at the Olympics.
